Every hospital and medical clinic relies on its diagnostic tools nearly every time a patient walks through the door. Digital imaging systems play a large role in the cardiology center, as they help to give the physicians the information they need to be able to produce an accurate diagnosis. Part of the digital imaging system that keeps everything running smoothly is the Cardiology PACS. There are affordable PACS appliances for the smallest to largest medical facility that offers cardiology care.
Affordable PACS systems are highly compatible with other digital imaging system components. A wide variety of modalities, such as ultrasound, MRI, PET, CT, endoscopy, mammography and x-rays are translated into DICOM medical imaging format. DICOM provides the common language that everything in the radiology room produces or reads, so that all of your digital imaging equipment will produce medical images that are compatible with your Cardiology PACS.
You will be able to view, archive and distribute your DICOM digital images through your affordable PACS system. You can view the digital images on a clinical workstation, which consists of a personal computer with a diagnostic monitor in place, along with the PACS system. Here you can enhance your digital medical images through the use of pan, zoom, rotation, brightness, contrast, and take precise measurements on the screen. Once you have made certain that the medical digital images are of a high enough quality for diagnosis, you can even print them using a DICOM printer if you need a hard copy.
However it is faster and less expensive to send the digital image to other members of your medical team online. Your PACS can be used in a local area network, wide area network or virtual private network, enabling the efficient distribution of digital medical images.
Archiving patient images must be handled according to HIPPA regulations, and your PACS appliance can help in this regard as well. You can set the PACS up so that patient records that are saved in DICOM format can be automatically sent to an archive. The storage unit may be on the site of your cardiology practice, but it can also be offsite, allowing you effective disaster recovery of patient records. Digital images can also be stored on CDs and DVDs quickly and easily as well.
Your PACS can be scaled to meet the needs of a cardiology center of any size. In this way, you can get the components that best work in your medical environment at a price that work
