Although most folks prefer soft water fishing over hard water angling, lots of people will agree that ice fishing is usually quite pleasurable. Fish are generally just as plentiful in the winter as they are in the summer and it takes just as much talent to catch them.
The reason so many people are put off of ice fishing is that they don't want to sit out in the cold for several hours. I'm more of a cold weather guy, so this isn't really a problem for me, but I could see how it could be for other people.
The best way to get around this issue is to get yourself an ice fishing house. With an ice fishing house, you will be able to spend many hours or even days angling on top of the ice without fear of frost bite or even catching a cold. This is particularly good for the sick or elderly that physically cannot take a full day of sitting out in the cold weather.
A good angling house does more than shield you against the wind. These houses actually have heating systems built into them. They are usually powered by propane tanks that can easily be replaced when necessary.
Other amenities can be part of your fishing house as well. Rest rooms, bunk beds, and padded chairs are all things you will find in a luxury ice fishing house. An extended stay fishing house will also have cooking devices, a small refrigerator and even a television to watch.
People that live too far from the water to consider getting an ice fishing house can still enjoy some of their benefits. These people will just need to buy a nice ice fishing shelter to spend their time in. Freezing cold fishing trips can easily be managed with the use of a good wind blocking ice shelter.
Overall the main point of this article was to let you know that you do not have to let the cold weather stop you from enjoying the wonderful sport of ice fishing. Between ice fishing houses, ice fishing shelters, and new and improved cold weather clothing, you can stay quite warm while fishing your favorite hard water lake.
Learn everything you can about the ice fishing house and the ice fishing shelter and you can't go wrong.
