Planning to uproot? Consider buying Boston foreclosures to save some money in a city that is not really known for affordable living. Some people who want to live in an urban area, but still want to maintain a quieter life compared to NYC, opt to transplant to Boston. There are so many opportunities in the city, from the arts to sciences to engineering and finance. It boasts of the best educational institutions in the world. It is no wonder people chose to live in one of America’s oldest cities.
Why Boston?
Cost of living in Boston is somewhat comparable to New York City, especially if you want to live in the heart of the metropolis or within the Cambridge area. But then you have the amenities of urban life within your fingertips without the frenetic pace of NYC. Choosing to buy and live in one of Boston foreclosures is a wise move since a prime piece of real estate can be had for slightly a lower price than those that are not distressed, depending on the condition. In 2006, there was a parking lot sold for $250,000! That is how expensive living space in Boston can be. So, if you do come across Boston foreclosures, try to see it and snap it up if it is a good deal - or you might never see some of these again once the real estate market goes back to its heyday.
The good thing about living in Boston is that you may be able to live in a historic place with beautiful old architecture. You also do not have to have a car in order to get around since this is a small area. You can walk or bike everywhere. Or if you do not plan to get rid of the car, Boston is just a 30 to 45 minute drive away from the beaches in the summer and 1 to 2 hours away from great skiing destinations in the winter.
Education
The city attracts a lot of academics because of the concentration of great schools within the Great Boston area, including Cambridge. It is often called the intellectual center of the country - or the "Athens" of America. It is one good incentive to buy Boston foreclosures; the rental opportunities are great that you may be able to generate a good income from renting out to students and other members of the academe. The city is home to Boston University, Northeastern University, Suffolk University, Boston College, University of Massachusetts Boston, and Berklee College of Music. Outside of the Boston is Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Tufts University.
