The largest of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, Mallorca, Spain, is a popular holiday destination for many at all time of the year, the weather gives the island mild temperatures and calm elements except for storms which breeze through during the Winter season.
The white sandy beaches with the contrast of rugged rock caves, cliffs and alcoves are stunning, and it is these island surroundings which make holidays relaxing, refreshing and full of activities. Travellers are welcome to stay in the many fabulous hotels on the island, but, since the turn of the 21st century, there has been a surge in urban redevelopment, which makes property for sale in Mallorca available at reasonable prices.
The capitol city of Mallorca, Palma, is also the capitol of the surrounding autonomous community of Balearic Islands. The port of Palma is the port of access for the entire island and the main airport is located in Palma, as well. Locals call Palma, "the Ciutat (city) of Mallorca." The city wraps around the coast of the lovely Bay of Palma in the south of the island. The urban area is experiencing a trend of growth and the population for the metropolitan area is over 500,000 people, making it the 12th most populated region in Spain. When looking for condominiums and Luxury apartments in Mallorca where there is all the best of coastline beaches, nightlife and the finest Mediterranean cuisine, many visitors love this southern metropolis.
On the opposite end of the island, there is a small port with two developing villages having a combined population of 12,000. Although one of the larger urban areas for the island, it is smaller than Palma. Still, it has the conveniences of contemporary cities. The connecting towns of this resort cove are Port de Soller at the mouth and Soller in the middle of the cove. A tramway travels between the two villages next to the beachside connecting road. There are shops and boutiques, restaurants and hotels for guests, but the atmosphere is quiet. Wild, water birds like egrets, ducks and geese flock to the small bay area and up the river that flows into it.
Certainly, most travellers will first experience the beautiful coastal city of Palma when coming to the island, but there are many smaller cities and coastal villages all around the island of Mallorca that make spectacular, relaxing getaways. Visitors can go on a short road tour taking in the sights, smells and tastes of this island. There are properties and villas in Mallorca away from the busiest of the urban areas. Many people, who come to the island once, want to return. Some visitors even choose extended stay. Those who are looking for property for sale in Mallorca will be sure to find a fabulous island paradise retreat.
