Congratulations, you have decided to play a Druid.

If you have never played a Druid in world of warcraft before you will want to check out this information. Here we will give a general overview of basic Druid play and some points on getting your Druid on it's way too the higher levels A.S.A.P.

When starting out as a Druid in the original world of warcraft you have two races to choose from. For the Alliance Druid, the night elf is the race you will have to be. For the Horde Druid, the tauren is the race you will have to choose. The worgen race for the Alliance and the troll race for the Horde were made available to be a Druid with the introduction of the Cataclysm expansion pack. Consider the different traits of each race to help you decide to go with the Alliance faction or the Horde faction.

Lets look at some traits of the available Druid races:

The night elf is very stealthy with an increase to dodge which makes it very effective at getting out of melee combat when the fighting gets a little too rough. The night elves' Prowl spell gives them heightened scouting and hiding abilities. If tanking is more your style then check out the tauren which get a 5% bonus to total health making them much better as a Druid tank. The taurens' War Stomp ability is awesome for stunning a Druids enemies allowing you to get some extra hits in.

At the very start, no matter what character class or race you are playing I recommend keeping it simple. For the first several levels simply get a feel of your character and what you are able to do. Do your best to only stay in combat for short periods of time.

Fight from a distance in the beginning using spells and long range weapons. But don't misinterpret this as just fooling around. Pay close attention to questing and be sure to do every quest you can get your hands on. Double check each zone you are in to be sure that you have completed all the quests available.

Practice,practice,practice.

While in any given zone of world of warcraft get all the lessons of any trainers available. And don't forget to look into what professions you might be interested in pursuing. Professions research is important, don't ignore them. Each character class will benefit differently with each profession, find out which will help your character the most. Just a little glimpse into the future, at level 20 you will be able to buy a mount making travel in world of warcraft much faster so start saving your gold ahead of time.

Thanks and Happy Gaming.
