The Olympic movement, modeled after the English public school system, has been promoting the spirit of fair play for over a century. While the intense competition is the hallmark of any Olympic; it’s the pervading sense of fair play and respect for the opposition that really defines the Olympic spirit. And that spirit is exemplified, with all its inherent contradictions, in Make It or Break It. It’s a series set in the intensely competitive world of gymnastics and its episodes delve in to all the tears and triumphs that precede an Olympic triumph.
Created by Holly Sorenson, watch Make It or Break It to enter the world of competitive gymnastics. Set at the fictional Rocky Mountain Gymnastic Training Center (also known as the Rock), the series focuses on the lives of a group of four teenage female gymnasts, who are all hoping and training for a spot on the American Olympic team. Catch Make It or Break It to understand the trials and tribulations in the lives of the girls as they attempt to achieve their dreams. All these girls are special as they are burning in the fierce heat of national level competition. They are also like every other girl who attempts to balance her requirements and desires. Through the portrayal of the battle between discipline and desire in the episodes, the show attempts to arrive at a dialectical understanding of a world that is inherently contradictory.
Catch Make It or Break It episodes to delve into the world of Emily Kmetko (Chelsea Hobbes), Lauren Tanner (Cassie Scerbo), Kaylie Cruz (Josie Loren) and Payson Keeler (Ayla Kell). All the four girls are undergoing a struggle in their lives. While Lauren is fiercely determined to become the best gymnast around, her father’s illicit relationship with his assistant distracts her more and more from her goal. Payson is another determined girl who is willing to take all measures, whether legal or illegal, in order to achieve her dream spot. There’s also Kaylie, who has a secret boyfriend in the team, and cannot come out in the open with it, as it may have negative repercussions. Finally, there’s Emily, who does not come from a privileged background like the rest of girls, but is perhaps more mature in dealing with the realities of the world around her.
Watch Make It or Break It online to enjoy this iconoclastic series that portrays the dilemma of Emily in a beautiful manner. As she goes about balancing the demands of her domestic life with that of her professional life, choices are to made and repercussions to be dealt with.
