While there is no direct cure and the condition isn't something that's fully understood, there are steps that one can take in order to help manage the symptoms, while some may notice significant result all together. However, at the same time, much depends on the severity of things as well as other factors, including the person's overall health.
Oftentimes, the first measure of treatment, depending on circumstances, can often consist of either phototherapy treatments or topical agents. Topical agents can generally be found over-the-counter, though some may be medically prescribed. They typically come in moisturizers, ointments, creams, mineral oils, as well as retinoids and corticosteroids. Phototherapy is a treatment that utilizes sunlight in order to treat the skin, though the amount necessary may be dependent on the person's skin type.
