Because fruit is low in carbs, it is a great way to restrict you carbs while you are having a craving for sweets. Besides to having few carbs, fruit is higher in other nutrients and vitamins that your body has to have to remain healthy. Fruits give things like vitamin C, which is a necessity for your body's immune system to remain healthy. They are also great sources of fiber.

Whole grains are extremely low in carbs and will make it not as hard to handle such things as your cravings for bread. The only thing that you have to watch is the amount of calories you eat. Just because an item has whole grains in it, does not make it low carb. When you commit to a low carb diet you must be certain that you are getting you nutrients and vitamins and that your calorie intake is low.
