Newcomer Camille Cresencia-Mills is making waves in the teen pop culture world. She plays Daisy on MTV’s Skins, an American adaptation of the British teen hit television show which has run for five seasons. Though the American version of this popular teen drama has only just premiered on MTV in 2011, it is already making an impact, with a great deal of media coverage thus far and lots of talk from new fans of the program hitting the internet every day.
The American version of this British teen hit has experienced more controversy than the British version. This is partially due to the fact that the show is actually cast by underage actors and depicts somewhat controversial plot lines, covering topics like mental illness, sexual orientation, substance abuse, and other issues.
Skins employs an ensemble cast of characters, including Daisy, played by Cresencia-Mills. Daisy is a rather conservative character who is often the voice of reason among her somewhat wild group of friends. The characterization of Daisy has not limited Cresencia-Mills growing popularity though.
Cresencia-Mills, along with a number of cast mates, have already appeared in some of the biggest magazines, including Vogue. The coverage the show and its actors are receiving will certainly help elevate their status as pop culture icons. Cresencia-Mills has the potential to become the next big star. The outcome of her career remains to be seen, but starring in a well publicized teen drama is a real career booster.
The 18 year old actress is a native of Toronto, Canada. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, where she studied jazz and ballet dance as well as drama. Little other early biographical information has made its way into the media about the actress.
The young actress has made guest appearances on the SyFy television series Warehouse 13 and in the internet original series Motherload. Skins is her first permanent starring role in a television show and therefore marks only the beginning of what may prove to be a brilliant career.
In keeping with the traditional casting techniques of the original British television series, Skins has cast mostly little known, young actors. Camilla Cresencia-Mills newness to the acting world was of real benefit in securing her a position among the Skin’s cast.
Since gaining the role of Daisy on the program, Cresencia-Mills has maintained a degree of distance from the media. She has conducted few interviews thus far, but is beginning to embrace the pop culture media to some degree. Little by little, the fans are learning about this enigmatic young actress. What they have seen thus far, they appear to like, with quite a buzz stirring about the young lady on internet fan sites and online celebrity news sites.
With her career only beginning, it is hard to say if Camilla Cresencia-Mills is bound for real stardom. She is definitely one to watch however, as the U.S. version of Skins promises to rocket the careers of several young actors to star status in the same way that its British predecessor was able to accomplish.
