If you are looking for DuPont homes for sale, there is no reason why you won't find an ideal home there for you. Why? It's because DuPont has a long history of welcoming visitors and settlers. More than 5,000 years ago, this pristine Northwest paradise welcomed some of the first human inhabitants to set foot on the US shores. Much later, the land and its people welcomed the first Europeans to explore the Puget Sound.
DuPont has three major communities for you to choose from. Each of these communities share unique histories and characteristics, and all of these will be described below. If you are looking for more information about DuPont and the surrounding community, stop on by the city's visitor information center located in the John L. Scott Real Estate Center. They have maps, tourist information and much more.
Northwest Landing. Northwest Landing is a 3,000-acre mixed-use planned community located midway between Olympia and Tacoma and next to the Historic Village of DuPont. Though only 15 minutes from Tacoma and Olympia, residents can stay close and enjoy local community events on the Village Green, two distinct retail neighborhoods and even a community Starbucks – all while living in homes built to the highest quality and environmental standards. The award-winning master-planned community is also one of the best-selling new home destinations in Pierce County. You'll find all the desirable elements and attributes of a good neighborhood at Northwest Landing. Peaceful atmosphere, open spaces, tree-lined streets, and Craftsman-style homes with porches are just a few of the things that make so many want to call this place home.
Historic Village. At the dawn of the 20th century, the E.I. DuPont deNemours Company selected this area for dynamite manufacturing. The company laid train tracks, built a wharf on the nearby Sound’s natural deep water port, and built a beautiful company town to house its workers. In time, the factory closed but the DuPont Historic Village is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, DuPont’s Historic Village is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the only former company town to have most of its original homes preserved with historic integrity intact.
Bell Hill. Bell Hill is considered the most expensive area near DuPont and has become a fast-growing destination for the very wealthy, with a high population of Californians who found success in high tech businesses. Based on per capita income, one of the more reliable measures of affluence, Bell Hill ranks 21st of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked. It is also known for its low levels of rain, a quality that has made Bell Hill very attractive. Bell Hill gets somewhat more precipitation than Sequim but is drier than most western Washington areas. However, use caution when walking the trails near the Bell Hill subdivision since the nearby Bell Hill Community Park is already under construction. This 4.4 acre park is located at the west end of Bell Hill plat and will connect to existing community trails.
DuPont continues to grow, but will never grow beyond the boundaries of nature and the governmental land surrounding it, thus keeping it isolated from urban overgrowth in nearby towns.
