Chula Vista Real Estate: Things You Need To Know About The City

There is always a reason why you should consider a Chula Vista real estate as an option for your future home. As the second largest city in San Diego County, Chula Vista has quickly become a special destination for tourists and home settlers. Several master-planned communities, bayfront development, a university site and other future projects will continue to increase the city’s population and career opportunities over the next decade. To help you expand your knowledge about this bustling city, the following aspects are enumerated below.
High Schools. Chula Vista is also home to one of the four private high schools in San Diego County. The Sweetwater Union High School District, is headquartered in the City. It also has a Junior college named Southwestern College (California).
Taxes. Most property tax payments are paid and processed each year between Nov. 1 - Dec. 10, and Feb. 1 - Apr. 10. By paying your taxes on time, you save the following penalties required by California law:

A 10% penalty added 5:00 p.m. on December 10.

A 10% penalty and $10.00 cost added after 5:00 p.m. on April 10.
Utilities - Power. The San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) provides safe and reliable energy service to almost 3.4 million consumers through 1.4 million electric meters and 840,000 natural gas meters in San Diego which includes the City. Today, the San Diego Gas & Electric supplies power to a population of 1.4 million business and residential accounts in a 4,100 square-mile service area spanning two counties and twenty five communities.
Utilities - Water. The Otay Water District provides water service to customers within 125.5 square miles of southeastern San Diego County, California. Its facilities serve the water, recycled water, and the sewer needs of customers residing in the communities of Spring Valley, La Presa, Rancho San Diego, Jamul, and eastern Otay Mesa along the international border with Mexico.
Transportation. Local area freeways in within the city of Chula Vista include: Interstate 5, Interstate 805, State Route 54 and State Route 125. Meanwhile, the Chula Vista Transit System (CVT) has been providing public transit services for the residents and visitors of the City for 38 years. CVT interfaces with the San Diego Trolley's Blue Line at the Bayfront/E Street, H Street, and Palomar Street Trolley Stations. Additionally, CVT provides connections to two regional bus routes: MTS's Contract Services Routes 929 and 932, and to two local routes at Plaza Bonita, 961 and 963. Unfortunately, transfers are no longer available for CVT. No upgrades or free transfers to or from the trolley or other buses are allowed. Drivers also cannot make change. However, Nature Center Bus, Route 708 is free.
Zoning for a property. Zoning Information, such as permitted uses, development standards (setbacks, height, etc.) and parking and signage regulations can be obtained by the following:

E-Zoning - to look up your regulations by entering your address or APN.

Calling the Planning Department Zoning Information Line at (619) 585-5621. You have to be ready with a property address and/or APN.

Visiting the Planning Division Public Information Counter. The counter is open Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
