A necessity for life on Earth, clean water has been a long forgotten natural resource that many have taken for granted. We mistakenly think if we live in an area where rain regularly falls freely out of the sky it should, therefore, be safe and clean to drink. But throughout the world, and even in our own United States, a limited access to clean drinking water remains a serious health threat.

Water related disease, in the direct form of dehydration, is the single most preventable cause of sicknesses and health-related deaths around the world. While dirty water supplies are more obviously linked to health dangers, another closely related problem that is practiced in technologically advanced cultures is drinking mostly other forms of acidic water based beverages. We mistakenly believe we are meeting our body's daily fluid intake requirements of water.

Clean water supplies have become a rare commodity that has been rapidly shrinking worldwide over the last 75 years. Aging American municipal water pipe infrastructures, which are found in older homes as well, are the main cause of major water contamination. The bottled water industry has, also, conveniently distracted the average person's attention away from these unresolved problems. Not to mention the corporate privatization of water well systems that is taking place to bottle this water. Many people are concerned that this is being brilliantly designed to monopolize the public water supply.

If you have bought into the slick marketing ploy that bottled water is, somehow, smarter and cleaner for you to drink than your own filtered tap water, you might want to re-think that concept again. More reports are coming in over the super information highway daily, that should have us thinking otherwise. Many brands of bottled water are nearly as acidic in nature as their bottled soda counterparts.

There are many unwanted substances leaking into our ground surface water including excessive use of toxic chemicals in the agricultural, manufacturing, pharmaceutical industries, and unsound land management and development practices to name only a few. The largest threat of all to cleaning up our water reserves, however, is centered around general public opinion, in the lack of concern over the matter.

And, while it may make sense to make everyone pay for the cost of cleaning up our contaminated water reserves, there are more people in this world that, due to their economic status, should not be denied the most important staple of life. Everyone, no matter who you are or regardless of economic status, should have the right to exist. And, that largely depends on equal access to safe, clean drinking water for all.

Clean water (free of unwanted contaminates) is the single most essential nutrient in leading a healthier lifestyle. Next to clean air, we absolutely need it to survive and maintain our daily lives, and so does everything else around us. Water is truly everywhere, and still, most people do not really understand the important role it plays inside human development, metabolism, or beyond.

Filtering your own tap water is about the most cost-efficient way anyone can start implementing today, that will get around the contaminated water issue for the time being. It's either filter out the unwanted substances in your drinking water, or let your body become the filter for them. It is becoming more clear where each of our own responsibilities lie, and that we really can not count on our government (or anyone else for that matter) to take this issue seriously enough, due to recent federally mandated budget cuts to the Clean Water Act.

If you have ever had the fortunate experience of having drank ionized water, or had it shared with you long enough to appreciate its health benefits, you know how truly special this type of water really is. Unfortunately, this technology has been rather cost prohibitive for the average household over the last dozen years. On top of the initial cost of the electric water ionizer itself, is a must have pre-filtering system. The pre-filtering system will affect the life of the machine, and directly determine the quality of water coming out of the electronic ionizing unit.

As most already know, that own an electric water ionizer, that is a lot of extra filters to keep up with, and buy! Electric water ionizer filters are not known for their great ability to filter out a host of unwanted substances like fluoride, lead, aluminum or mercury. They also are not great at controlling excessive amounts of calcium that will eventually weaken the ionizing plates (over time) inside your expensive investment either. Hard water is the most common type of water found throughout the United States.

Fortunately, the confusion over how to effectively filter your own tap water, at home, has just gotten a whole lot simpler, and much more affordable to those who wish to do so. Coming into the U.S. very soon from Australia, is the new, non-electric antioxidant water filter, which will eliminate the need for extra filtering under your kitchen sink. The added side benefits will include alkaline drinking water that rivals that of the most expensive electric ionizer.

A huge market that has largely remained untapped, due to greediness, price gouging and marketing structure, is about to change the playing filed in the home water ionizer business. How much for sure is uncertain but, most ionized water enthusiasts will agree, a much needed change for the good of everyone concerned is long over-due. The future of affordable clean filtered, ionized water in every home that wants it is finally here, so stay tuned!
