Evergreen is one of the many jewels of the foothills of Denver, aside from its nearby towns of Conifer, Kittredge, Morrison, Pine and Bailey. Choosing Evergreen homes for sale as one of your choices in selecting a home will give you the serenity of mountain living without sacrificing the distance from a big city.
Access to Denver is via I-70 on the north side of Evergreen, and Hwy. 285 in south Evergreen, as well as from the Conifer, Morrison, Pine and Bailey areas. Both highways are 4 lane limited access highways. Evergreen is approximately 30 miles away from Denver, that's why most of the people living in this homey town are in the middle and upper management commuters to Denver.
Since many of its residents are commuters to Denver, Evergreen might have lost its great independent small town feel but the beauty and solitude made the driving worthy enough to be spent: the visiting elk, the foxes, a few bear, and the beautiful blue skies.
In A Nutshell. Traffic is not much of a problem if you are residing in South Evergeen, with the exception of occasional road works or during peak periods of summer where several people are spending their vacation. Rush hours may be due to the single stoplight in town but such hours will only take almost an hour. Rush hours are not as complicated as in any place in Denver metro, Stamford, and Stratford CT, North Raleigh. Overall, the commute may take only between 45min-55min, which is nothing compared to the long distance commutes in California.
Getting out of Evergreen. It would only take about 25min just to get to the intersection in Downtown Evergreen which is from the Clear Creek County section of Evergreen in the Brook Forest Estates community. Meanwhile, if you're searching for a home in the Cragmont Estates community in South Evergreen, allocate a 9 min long ride just to get to Hwy 73 and from there you have to choose to go south to Hwy 285 in Conifer(about another 10min), head east on North Turkey Creek to Hwy 285 (about 20min unless there is snow and add 10min), or head north through town to I70(about 22min). Those who are looking for a quicker commute out of Evergreen might find themselves starting in the North Evergreen area. Hiwan, Soda Creek, & Saddleback are neighborhoods that get you to I70 in about 9 min or less.
The Experience. If for some reasons you get bored while driving, you can take a short drive to the markets, restaurants, urgent care facilities, hiking, recreational centers and other amenities as well as Home Depot, Walgreens, Staples, or Walmart in Evergreen. However, if you decide to go up straight to the foothills after a long day's work, there is nothing to worry. The feeling of starting the climb is not at all stressful. The picturesque of a snow capped Continental Divide on I70 seems to relieve all stress and brings peace to any hectic day. The pine trees, open spaces, large lots and quiet is very different than any familiar suburban sprawl and the idea of a long commute doesn't even enter the minds of the motorists.
Just remember that nothing is bad all the time, especially when you have the moment to appreciate the beauty of nature after a long tiring day at work. All you have to do is ask yourself how long can you spend the time driving. After that, you can finally decide if an Evergreen real estate is right for you and your family.
