Morrison was at the center of the so-called Bone Wars during the 19th century, when rival palaeontologists were competing to find the best fossil specimens. The section of late Jurassic sedimentary rock is now known as the Morrison Formation because of the number of fossils that were found around the town. Some of the most notable fossils that are on public showing in the museum are the first fossilized remains of a baby Stegosaurus ever to have been spotted. Other dinosaur tracks can be encountered out at one of the 19th century dig areas at Dinosaur Ridge.
The Commute. You'll like Morrison if you want the idea of a smaller town type area and is near to the city. It is just right where the plains and foothills meet. Morrison wouldn't be too bad of a commute, since it is right at the edge of the city, probably a 30-minute drive during non-rush hour times, add 15-20 minutes during rush hour.
The Schools. The Morrison area is serviced by the Jefferson County Public Schools with over 97,000 students, making it one of the bigger school districts in the state.
