For anyone with aspirations of playing college volleyball, the journey starts long before college. In fact, it is during high school when you begin the process of being noticed and being recruited. One of the most essential things to this recruitment process is your volleyball recruiting skills video. It is this video that will allow your skills to be showcased in front of dozens of university athletic officials.
In the simplest terms, a volleyball recruiting skills video is a concise and to the point video that shows who you are on the volleyball court and the talents you will bring to a college volleyball team.
The way you go about making this volleyball recruiting video can vary. Some people prefer to use footage shot by their parents and friends, other prefer to hire a professional videographer. As long as the end result is a professional production, how you go about it doesn't really matter.
Still, there are certain things that must be included in a solid volleyball recruiting skills video. Make sure you have the following:
Your Stats: People involved with college volleyball recruiting like tangible facts; they like figures and numbers they can use to establish what you can offer as a player. Some information that you should include are height, position, strengths, and stats like average amount of kills per game. If you have won awards, such as all conference or MVP of a tournament, be sure to mention that as well.
Game Footage: College volleyball recruiting officials also like to see game footage because they want to see you in action. For your volleyball recruiting video, adding game footage that showcases you in some of your best games is essential to being noticed. If the recruiters likes what he or she sees, there is always a chance they will want to see you play in person. For this reason, include your game schedule as well.
Editing: No volleyball recruiting video is complete without editing. College recruiters are busy people and they don't have the time, nor the desire, to sit through a video that is full of errors, unneeded or extraneous information, or one that is of poor quality. Before you send your video to a college, be sure it a video of the highest quality that shows off your very best work.
Being recruited to play college volleyball is a wonderful opportunity, but it is not without hard work. Be sure that your video is complete, shows that you put in effort and shows how hard you are willing to work to obtain your goals.
