Heartburn is something that many people develop and for some it becomes a serious problem of acid reflux disease. If you have one and are trying to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of this acid reflux disease then there are some foods you should try to avoid. Many believe that a change in diet helps to manage this health problem.
One thing you may never thought to cause you trouble is chocolate but unfortunately this tops the list of things to avoid if you suffer from acid reflux. Chocolate is not only bad for people with reflux problems but wrong on three fronts. Caffeine and theobromine can stimulate reflux problems and is also high in fat which aggravates acid reflux, and cocoa can also cause problems. Unfortunately, if you have acid reflux disease then it is best to avoid chocolate and chocolate products.
Soda is a big no-no for those who suffer from acid reflux disease. Caffeine and the carbonation is a double whammy and it can really cause problems. Avoiding carbonation will help with acid reflux symptoms.
Fried foods are a big no-no as well, if you are suffering from acid reflux disease. Instead of opting to use the oven try the grill its a much better option...It'll make you feel much better at the end of the meal.
Skipping alcohol is another great way to keep your reflux problem under control. Abstaining is better, but limited to a cocktail a day can help reduce heartburn and make you feel much better. And do not forget if you drink alcohol do not mix with orange juice or soda because both can worsen acid reflux symptoms.
Avoid dairy products which are high in fat and replace them with low fat alternatives. This can help reduce the instances of heartburn after eating a meal. Making healthier meals will also help you lose a few pounds, which also can have a very positive effect on your acid reflux disease .
Choosing a lean selection of meat can actually help with the symptoms of heartburn. Meats such as beef, pork and lamb are high in fat can cause havoc on your stomach. When you make your choice, opt for beef and fish, turkey and chicken over a week and then just choose a high-fat meat once or twice a week.
This will help you control your heartburn or reflux acid disease more effectively.
