What makes or breaks a website? Content. If people find the content in your site not worth reading, they will be less likely to purchase your products or services. Your site must have articles and other forms of information that are attractive, well-written, well-produced and interesting if you want it to produce income for you.

One way to insure that your content is interesting and professional is to hire a freelancer to do it for you. This can be costly, particularly for a beginner with limited funds.

Many marketers find it more cost-effective to produce their own content. However it requires research, continuous practice and is, therefore, very time-consuming. So if you're pressed for time, and/or your writing skills (or speaking skills, in the case of audio or video content) are not what they should be, then the quality of the content will suffer.

The general rule for online articles is that less is more – which simply means that you should be short and to the point, with short paragraphs and sentences. Keep the article tight so that scrolling to get to the end is minimized. Don't overwhelm your readers with articles that look like they will take forever to read. Try to include pictures so the article looks more appealing. Use attractive headings that describe the topic of the next 2 or 3 paragraphs and then stick to that topic. When you change topic, add a heading.

The first draft is never the final draft. Write it once, wait a day, then read it two or three times and use your track changes feature to go back through and edit it. Use the spelling and grammar checker! Don't be shocked if you have to go through this process 2 or 3 times with every article. Eventually, you will be satisfied with the final product and you'll be even more pleased when you see that the visitors to your site are interested in what you've written.
