The monitor is so good that it will always take into account what you have been achieving during your workouts and then adjust according. For example the other day I went for a really long run and today it eased up on my intensity zone to give me a more relaxed workout.

They both track your speed and distance which along with the heart rate monitor can be linked up and shared online polar fitness networking sites.
