This trail is a 5.4 mile stretch loop trail which connects the Murphy Candler Nature Trail to the Johnson Ferry Redevelopment Project as it crosses Nancy Creek once. TO get here from downtown Atlanta, go north on Peach Street onto Ashford-Dunwoody Road and then make left turn from this road to the exit. The trail crosses a footbridge between Murphy Candler Park and Blackburn Park before passing near another creek at a section in Blackburn Park.
The trail is easy to moderate with not so much change in the elevation. The trail is also nearby Marist School and the footpath is mostly on paved concrete. Just be careful in crossing some streets and driveways and just stick closely on the Nancy Creek Trail. The trailhead is found on the opposite side of Murphy-Chandler Lake in the Nature Trail Park where a roadside path is found along the Nancy Creek Drive. The footpath swerves left at Ashford Dunwoody Road and prior to crossing Ashford Dunwoody Road the path still quickly crosses a footbridge over Nancy Creek.
The trail then proceeds to make a left turn towards Blackburn Park as it approaches an easy climb uphill. There is a rest stop and some picnic tables at Blackburn Park if you want to enjoy the scenery before proceeding. At this point, the path makes a slow swerve to the right where it begins a left turn a short distance after. You will pass by the tennis courts at Blackburn Park on your right.
As you emerge out of the forest, you will then come across football and soccer fields on the right. Continue to follow the trail by turning left and away from the ball fields. At this point, the path makes a descent slowly onto Donaldson Drive. A marker is found at this area which has a small plaque dedicating the park to "Father Blackburn".
At 1.7 miles, you will cross the Donaldson Place before the treadway enters onto the Johnson Ferry Redevelopment Project which is partially completed. On the Durden Drive section however, the path and development have already been completed for approximately 2.7 miles. This section then marks the end of your trail where you can loop back to the trailhead and return to the parking area.
Nevertheless, there are ongoing developments and construction of new trails coming soon which is part of the Keswick Park that proceeds towards the Chamblee Marta Station.
