Most drugs are known as one type: antidepressants, antihistamines, painkillers. However, most drugs have multiple properties. They might be painkillers, but also hypnotic (causing sleep) and tranquilizing (relaxing).

For a drug to be approved for a specific use, it must undergo long and expensive clinical trials in order to be approved for sale by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, if a drug is approved for one thing, there is nothing stopping a doctor who is convinced that drug is safe and effective for another treatment to write an "off-label" prescription. An off-label prescription is when a drug that is normally used for one thing is used to treat something else. For example, Viagra can be used to treat high blood pressure.

In most cases, off-label prescriptions are only written when a person isn't responding well to the normal treatment or is allergic or high risk for a dangerous side effect. In this case, however, tramadol and its brand version are so effective that they are often turned to right away for a number of off-label uses. Read more about them below.

Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)

This is sometimes called Wittmaack-Ekbom's Syndrome.

RLS is a disorder of the nervous system, though much is still a mystery about this fairly common condition. RLS causes mild pain and unease or severe discomfort in the legs, as well as the arms and other extremities.

These sensations are often interpreted as very peculiar feelings: itching, burning, crawling, shocking, etc. Because RLS causes these strange nervous reactions rather than acute pain, it is very difficult to treat with drugs.

Causes: The exact cause is unknown, but it is believed to be related to certain medications and diabetes.

Treatment: Patients usually start on 50 mg doses and move up progressively to a maximum of 200 mg. The muscles relax, discomfort is reduced, and the hypnotic effect of the medication allows sufferers to drift off to sleep.

Opiate Withdrawal

When people come off of opiates, like Heroin and Opium, or even other opioid painkiller medications like Morphine, Codeine, and Vicodin, there are extreme withdrawal symptoms. Because the body is dependent on the substance, there are sometimes dangerous seizures in addition to the pain, nausea, mood swings, and hallucinations.

Ultram and tramadol can help a patient gradually come down from their dependency, minimizing or even eliminating withdrawal symptoms.

Migraine Headaches

Unlike normal headaches, migraines are caused by enlarged blood vessels that push nerve fibers in the brain to release chemicals. These chemicals cause the telltale symptoms:

  • Extreme headaches

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Light-sensitivity

  • Auditory and visual hallucinations

Stress and sensory aggravators trigger migraines, but Tramadol before or after they set in can reduce those symptoms and relieve pain. It also helps people to sleep off their migraines.

Premature Ejaculations

Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra are the solutions for erectile dysfunction, but that other type of sexual dysfunction is harder to treat. It is also the most common sexual problem in men.

Ultram is one of the most common and effective medical treatments for premature ejaculation. Therapy is also recommended, as well as exercise. However, Ultram is perfect for immediate relief.
