Holidays would usually mean one thing - lots of food. That's why we all love holidays. We call these days holidays because they're a time to relax and to be reminiscent of certain important dates in history or simply to celebrate traditions. These situations won't be complete without food and we have all the right i to indulge in our favorites. What we shouldn't forget though is that our bodies do not react any differently when we eat on holidays and on ordinary days. So, making healthy food choices and eating in the right amounts should still be a concern. Confident, you can forget your restrictions for a day or two. But if you're finding it hard not to extend your eating spree, you need to consider a few things.
Some say it's their appetite that makes them eat a lot. That makes sense, but it also makes sense that when your appetite is naturally voracious and you come to a party hungry, you could just eat everything. And that won't be good for you. Number one rule if you want to eat wisely during the holidays is, do not come to a party hungry. When you do, you could eat anything that looks and smells good. This is actually also the reason why skipping meals is not advised for those who want to lose weight. That is because when you feel that hunger, you'll just find yourself eating more food than you would when you've been eating normally beforehand. So just before you leave your door, ensure you've got defeated those the urge to eat.
When you come to a party, you're also probably going to drink. Don't believe them when they say alcohol is just alcohol. You'll pass it through your urine, that's right. But even alcohol has calories and lots of them. Worse, the fat you gain from the calories in alcohol usually stay in your abdominal area, and that's not going to look very good on you. Instead of beer, go for dry wine or spirits which definitely have fewer calories.
Last but not least, if you want to eat sensibly during a party, drink water just before you head for the dinner table. That's assuming you didn't come hungry. Water tends to make you feel full and this is going to be effective in curbing that appetite. In fact, people who watch how much they weigh often rely on this technique to help them control their urge to eat more than they should.
