Plastic injection molding is the process that is used in the manufacture of plastic parts. It is in these molds that the plastic is allowed to cool into a specific shape. After the mold has cooled it is opened an the part is removed. Custom plastic molds are made in the same way but the only difference is that the design will have to be as the customer wants it to be. The rest of the processes, which include design considerations, wall thickness, radii and corner and much more, do not have to differ.

This method of creating plastic is more of a cycle that is repeated with each plastic that is made. Designs considerations are the first things that have to be taken into account when taking about the manufacturing process of plastics. When it comes to designing part designs are made and this includes draft features of the kind of plastic that is to be made.
There are strict specifications that have to be adhering to by the manufacturing firm if the quality of plastic is to be high. The thickness of the item can either be thin or very thick depending on the type of plastic product that is being manufactured. The other considerations that are looked into include the required radii and corner of the item, ribs, and bosses as well as weld lines. Each of these specifications are to be addressed by molder and they are most likely to be determined by the design the plastic is to be molded into. As for the surface finish, this is done depending on the type of material that is used in the molding process.

The most common product that can be custom made include office items like ball point pens or even bottles.
