Most online marketers don't want to spend the time promoting their business offline. However, becoming a volunteer can bring forth tons of credibility to your business. Plus you get to do something that makes you feel good. If you're looking for a way to increase awareness, your credibility, or make more profits; volunteering is a great avenue.
The Board Member- One of the easiest ways to get noticed is by becoming a board member of some local organization. Find one that you care about so it feels good to put in the extra effort. Most of the boards around your area probably don't have enough members, especially the parent teacher association and local nonprofit groups. The process is easy, so this won't take up too much of your time.
While this can be extremely beneficial; you don't want to get caught up with groups that are extremely political or too controversial. These always seem to come back and haunt online business owners and ruin their credibility. Unless of course your business caters to these types of groups then it's okay. Otherwise we recommend looking for neutral places like the Habitat for Humanity or National Alliance on Mental Illness. It's also better to join something that relates to your business, but finding one might take a little longer.
Be a Teacher- Another way to promote your business offline is by becoming an expert in your field. It doesn't matter what your niche happens to be, because there are always people who want to learn. Where you teach the class isn't as important as the people that are sitting in front of you. It will be important to narrow down your targeted audience so the overall benefits are maximized.
Offer a service to the community- Dig into your local community and there are always unfulfilled needs. It's possible that your service can help them tremendously, so do a little brainstorming and think about what you can offer. Eventually you will figure out what you can offer them as an online business owner.
Offer your expertise free- If you have the technical knowledge there are plenty of areas and projects you can share in order to help others. A lot of nonprofit companies don't know how to make Facebook Pages, websites, or even sign-up for Twitter accounts. Now, if you don't know how to do any of this you can still be an educated voice to help make the right decisions.
Create your own program- Those who are truly dedicated will create their own programs to assist people in the community. There will always be needs that have to be met. Whatever you decide to do it's always important to have your business name front and center. This way everyone knows who has sponsored the organization. We highly recommend that it's in the name of your new program. It's a great way to increase your local presence. So get out there and start volunteering so your offline business promoting can be successful.
