Tee hinges are T-shaped, surface mounted hinges, with the length of the T attached to the door and the cross arm of the T fixed to the door or gate frame. They are very similar to strap hinges, except that the tee hinge has one of the straps replaced by half a butt hinge. They are typically used on outdoor doors or gates, but there are also lighter tee hinges used indoors, in small sheds, tool boxes, or storage chests. Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products specializes in both heavy duty and light duty tee hinges for all needs, accompanied of course by our typical attention to detail and dedication to quality.
Most of the tee hinges you’ve come across have probably been ornamental. These are the iron-wrought, heavily stylized pieces you might see in a medieval castle or on a treasure chest in a movie. The tee hinge was one of the earlier types of hinges in widespread use, but SPEP focuses more on function than form. You don’t want to come to us if you want an ornamental tee hinge; we specialize in designing and manufacturing tee hinges that will last a lifetime. They may not be the flashiest things around, but they definitely get the job done.
Still, our team of engineers is willing to customize and update its tee hinge design, depending on the reasonableness and reality of the customer’s request. We refuse to compromise our commitment to quality function and design, but if your customization request satisfies both of those requirements, we are willing to work with you. We won’t compromise on quality, but we will make every effort to satisfy our customers’ requests. If you’re interested in excellent build quality, constant industry innovation, and the best customer service around, try tee hinges from SPEP.
Our engineering team is constantly developing new products to lead the industry, with cost reduction and product improvement being perpetual goals. The team also tweaks current designs to make them even more effective. In addition to the items found in our catalog, we supply custom hardware to many of our customers. Our CAD, FEA and Fused deposition modeling (FDM) machine are some of the tools we use to overcome many of the obstacles encountered when developing a new product from concept to production. We are interested in working with you on specially designed items and/or modifications of our catalog items. Please go to our contact us page to submit your design file for review.
