Erectile dysfunction is when a sexually aroused man is not able to get or maintain an erection till orgasm. Several neurological, physiological, psychological, endocrinological, and vascular factors can cause erectile problem. Some of the physiological conditions associated with it are side effects of illegal drugs, cardiovascular problems, and diabetes.
Erectile dysfunction: No more a condition to live with
Erectile dysfunction is no longer a condition that you have to live with for the rest of your life. There is no reason to feel guilty or ashamed of this condition. For a majority of men, erectile dysfunction is a sensitive matter that hampers their intimate life. Stress and anxiety due to this sexual dysfunction can impair the sexual performance of men suffering from it. Men tend to withdraw physically and emotionally from their partners and feel depressed. Apart from sexual activities, men also refrain them from regular social activities and hobbies that they enjoy.
The good news is that erectile dysfunction can be effectively treated with medications. The first and foremost thing men can do about treating erectile dysfunction is to talk with their partners. Their partners can support them and help them overcome this problem easily. The next thing they can do is consult a doctor to get their erectile problem diagnosed, so that they can start an appropriate treatment at the earliest.
Understanding an erection
Sexual arousal by erotic thoughts or sensory penile stimulation triggers the brain to send reflexes that relax the smooth muscles around the penile blood vessels that supply blood to the penis. As blood enters the cavernosa chambers in the penis, the chambers expand and produce an erection. The valves present in the cavernosa chambers prevent blood from flowing out again. This helps in maintaining erection for a longer duration to complete sexual intercourse. But a small disruption in any of the processes involved in causing an erection can lead to erectile dysfunction.
A substance known as cGMP dilates the penile blood vessels to increase the flow of blood to the penis. PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase-5) is an enzyme that degrades cGMP. Due to rise in the level of PDE-5 , the level of cGMP falls. This interrupts free flow of blood to the penis and can cause erectile problems.
Atherosclerosis, heart problems, high blood pressure, and multiple sclerosis are some of the health conditions that can impair free flow of blood to the penis. Studies have shown that about 10-20% of all cases of impotence are due to psychological factors. In some cases, sexual trauma or childhood abuse can cause these psychological issues.
Viagra for erectile dysfunction treatment
Viagra is a clinically approved prescription medication for the treatment of impotence. Studies have shown that this medication can help men with erectile problems to get or maintain an erection for sexual activity. Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, works by blocking the action of PDE-5 enzyme and restoring the level of cGMP. This leads to normal flow of blood to the penis, producing an erection. Viagra blue pill should be taken about 30-60 minutes before you intend to have sex. Most men prefer to buy impotence pills online from registered clinics, which is 100% safe and convenient. Men who are hesitant to visit their local clinics for erectile dysfunction treatment may find it very helpful to place an order for Viagra online.
