Digital TV means better videos and better sound. More and more people are now converting to or upgrading the old TV sets for the newer digital TVs like the LEDs and the LCDs or flat TVs. However, regardless of the much improved reception and viewing, the signal strength can be affected making the videos look blocky and the sound skip.
Some of the things which can affect the digital TV signal strength are rough terrain, tress, high buildings, heavy clouds, rainy or stormy weather, damaged equipment, and the type of antenna used, where the TV is set up as well as the orientation of the home where the TV is set up.
The signal strength can be improved by simply changing the location of the antenna used. If the antenna is damaged, then it would be simpler to just replace it. However, if the antenna can be obstructed by solid objects and high rise buildings or homes, then it would be better to place it to a higher area which can improve the reception considerably, again barring any damage to the antenna itself. The antenna is not rust proof and can be subjected to the elements. It can even be worse if the area is near the ocean or the sea. The salt water air can degrade the antenna considerably.
If everything else fails and the antenna is good and new, then consider getting hold of a signal booster for this should greatly improve the reception. Should you still have trouble with the reception check the connections to the TV, scan the channel signal levels and adjust the antenna receiver.
There should be different digital signals per location so it would be best to get familiar with the information. If everything else fails, then you should check out the digital TV reception tip sheet, the reception maps and the antenna guides.
But before you panic, check the weather first. If there is a storm, heavy rains, heavy winds or a solar flare, then those could be the only reasons why the signal is getting choppy and has nothing to do with your antenna or your TV set.
Now enjoy watching TV with the cheapest alternative to cable. The Ditigenne Insteekkaart, i.e is the receiver for digital TV that is now into the side of your flat screen television with high image quality and use of simple remote control of your LCD or Plasma TV operation. Also you can enjoy wireless TV along with Digitenne Zenders.
