In feng shui, "Mother" is represented by the bagua area: Love and Relationships. Look to the back right corner of your home for your Love and Relationships area. This is an earth energy area, and is best strengthened with earth elements such as: slate, terracotta, stone, statuary, and earth tones including yellows, creams, and beige.
While the Love and Relationships area is considered the "Mother" area, you can still strengthen this area even if you are not a mom. Why, because it's the feminine area, and you most likely "mother" in some way, be it your pet, your friends, those in need, or even your spouse...lol
Fire energy (yang) supports the feminine energy (yin), which may be why so many of us adore candles in our homes and bedroom.
And for my male readers, it's okay to give a little love (flowers, a card, dinner, or even a latte) to the woman in your life, while she's not your mother and possibly not be the mother of your children; she's someone special.
This week as you celebrate Mother's Day, may I also suggest you "give some love" to the "Mother" energy in your home.
This Week: A Little Feng Shui for Mother's Day
Give yourself a beautiful bouquet of flowers to add beauty to your home. It's okay if your family also sends or gives you flowers; the more the merrier.
Freshen up the Love and Relationships area of your home (back right corner of your home.) Whether it's the family room, kitchen, your bedroom, or your garage: clear some clutter, do a little dusting, give a quick sweep or vacuum, then open a window and listen to the birds as they sing you a little song. Add support to your Love and Relationships area by adding the fire energy of candles, or a few hot colored accessories in reds, oranges, or neon, to your Love and Relationships area. Select a wonderfully scented candle and let it's aroma fill the air as you enjoy your home and strengthen the Love and "Mother" energy in your life. Say a silent "thank you" to all the wonderful women in your life who have lovingly mothered you, and to the "Mother" in you.
Happy Mother's Day!
