Located near Chigwell, Loighton, Woodford and being part of the Greater London Urban Area, Buckhurst Hill is a suburban town pertaining to the district of Essex, spreading over the Epping Forest district. Another aspect that needs to be mentioned in relation to the town of Buckhurst Hill is its partial placement under the London Borough of Redbridge. Plus, important parts of the Epping Forest intermingle with the residential areas of the town, adding a touch of wild scenery and beauty to the place.
Going back in time, historians tell us that Buckhurst Hill used to have an Urban District Council of its own, between 1890 and 1933, and, furthermore, the town merged with Loughton and Chigwell between 1933 and 1974. Together, they gave birth to the Chigwell Urban District. Today, the town of Buckhurst has a parish council of its own, and the council has been a significant part of the town since 1996. The fact that it relates to Chigwell and Loughton throughout history and given the wealth impression these three regions have always left, Buckhurst Hill is said to be part of the Essex golden triangle of wealthy places. This is one of the reasons why the place appeared on the ITV1 series Essex Wives, which was a program featuring business women who lived in the town, or women who were fairly well-off.
Returning to the other important buildings or constructions of the town, we find the Buckhurst Hill tube station; this is part of the Central Line of the London Underground, thus it plays an important part in the entire English transportation system. The opening of the railway line took place back in 1856, and the railway line was then a small part of the Eastern Counties Railway. As a matter of fact, the entire Victorian ambience that can still be seen, felt, and sensed there is a direct result of the influence the middle-class development had on the entire construction. The railway line operates to Epping, Loughton and Woodford; plus, one can reach London Liverpool Street via Hackney and Walthamstow from nearby Chingford Station.
Hight Road, Loughton Way, Buckhurst Hill Station and Roding Lane are just some of the Buckhurst Hill places that are served by different buses on a daily basis.
The town is also the birthplace of famous British politician Jack Straw and Labor cabinet minister Richard Crossman. Buckhurst Hill has also offered up actress Liz Smith and Tottenham's football players Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone to the world. Plus, the town has its own local football club, the Buckhurst Hill Football Club. The football club was established in 1985 and it features over 200 playing members from age groups 6-18. This year, the Buckhurst Hill Football Club will be celebrating their 25th anniversary, so all the town is going to be present at the celebration.
All in all, Buckhurst Hill has a beautiful and rich history, many well-preserved buildings and constructions, a wonderful location, clean air and many impressively beautiful houses for sale, so it sounds like the perfect place to live in.
