There are so many digital TV sets sold today and it can be quite confusing for many consumers. People are most confused about the terms DTV, HDTV, plasma, LCD and LED. With all of the acronyms flying all over it is no wonder people are confused. So before you go out to buy a TV set you must think about what these letters mean.
DTV – this is simply digital TV and could refer to the digital TV itself or the digital TV transmission signal which replaced the analog transmission in 2009.
HDTV – this is high definition TV. This is a type of service offered by the broadcasting networks which can offer excellent quality pictures and sound from the HDTV capable digital TV to rival the DOLBY Digital sound offered in theatres.
LCD – this is a type of display screen used on digital TV. Liquid Crystal Display is a type of flat screen which offers great picture resolution. The colors and images coming out of these can rival the movie screens. The older models had a lot of viewing issues which has since been corrected. Now, LCD screens are a favourite for they are a cheaper version to the LED.
LED – light emitting diode is a type of lamp or light device which offers a cooler and brighter light. The construction is very thin so it has been used to make for flatter TVs. However, the LED digital TVs still use the LCD front screen; it is just the backlight and the sidelights which are LED.
Plasma – the plasma TV is based on the fluorescent bulb and there are panels of these bulbs incorporated into the TV set. This replaced the older picture tube TVs. This is also a flat screen type of TV set and was seen to be better than the LCD TV for it could be manufactured into a larger screen. However, since the LCD technology has matured, the width of the screen is no longer an issue.
Nothing allures more than a digital TV and a super fast connectivity that comes with a digitenne recorder. Also you may use kpn digitenne. This would enhance connectivity and picture quality.
