The teenagers cross paths as they explore the suburban wonderland they inhabit in search of love and adventure – chasing first kisses, elusive crushes, popularity and parties. While looking for the iconic teenage experience, they discover the quiet moments that will later become a part of their youth they look back on with nostalgia.
Inspired by Mitchell’s experience growing up in Michigan, the kids in this poignant and tender coming-of-age drama may be lost, a little confused and full of angst, but ultimately the kids are all right in this life-affirming, truthful and fresh take on the teen genre. Starring a cast of young attractive newcomers in their feature film debut and produced by Adele Romanski (THE FREEBIE), THE MYTH OF THE AMERICAN SLEEPOVER is having its world premiere at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival in the International Critics’ Week section, the first American film in five years to be selected for this honor.
THE MYTH OF THE AMERICAN SLEEPOVER had its U.S. premiere in March at the SXSW Film Festival and Conference, where it received a special jury prize for Best Ensemble Cast.Four young people navigate the suburban wonderland of metro-Detroit looking for love and adventure on the last weekend of summer.
This looks like a pretty cool movie. I presume there will be mainly young, unknown indie actors in this movie since their actual identities haven’t been highlighted in text or in the image. This is another movie poster that would work very well as a book cover, but might look strange as a giant billboard in Times Square.
I like that the designer chose to do an animated poster. I did cheat and check if it is in fact an animated feature, and it’s not. (But I promise I didn’t look at a trailer.) I like the flat color and high contrast, this will almost certainly be a dark comedy about teenage angst and troubles. The typography is quirky, so I guess the script will be too.
I’ve gained a slightly greater knowledge of graphic novels simply from shelving them in the library all the time and taking the occasional sneaky flick through. Though not my book of choice, I really respect the amount of hard work that goes into their creation. I’ll take photos of some cool covers and post them very soon. This poster reminds me a bit of Ghost World and I suspect it’ll have a similar slow, dry Watch The Myth of the American Sleepover Movie Online
I also bet that because it was shown at SXSW that it is has a very cool soundtrack. The hormone-powered joys and pains of an all-night adolescent hangout fuel "The Myth of the American Sleepover," a movie that tries and fails to channel the indelibly dreamy mood of Sofia Coppola’s "The Virgin Suicides." Well-intentioned but derivative and only intermittently engaging, the suburban Michigan-set indie hits at least as many false notes as true ones, and the dozen-odd young newcomers in its cast — winners of an ensemble award at SXSW — don’t always act awkward by intention. The unlikelihood of teen ticketbuyers and strong mainstream reviews could crash "Sleepover’s" shot at domestic pickup. To View The Full HD : Free movies to watch online
