Brochure printing, calendar printing, business card printing and flyer printing is better when it is green!

Everywhere a person turns, there are greener and better options being offered. Organic food is sweeping the nation and all-natural products are preferred almost everywhere. So if food, beverages and products are all following this trend, why shouldn’t printing? A company can easily reduce their carbon footprint by employing green printing practices.

The first way that a company can become greener is to start using recycled paper. There are certain components of recycled paper that businesses need to understand and be wary of. First off, it is important to choose a recycled paper product that is at least fifty percent recycled fiber. Once a paper that has fifty percent recycled fiber is found, at least a quarter of that percentage should be post-consumer waste. The percentage of post-consumer waste (PCW) in paper has a direct correlation with how landfills are being affected. The more PCW found in paper, the more positive affect it will have upon the state of the landfills. One hundred percent PCW paper is available as well and should be used whenever there is an option to.

Next, a great way to try to start being a green printing company is through the use of soy inks. In order for an ink to be declared as soy ink, one fifth of the petroleum oil that is originally present in ink needs to be replaced. Many soy ink products will instead contain vegetable oils and other raw materials derived from the earth.

There are also many other simple ways that a company can go green. Simply recycling all of the paper that is trash can have a huge impact. Don’t make recycling an option; make it a requirement. Place recycling bins in every room of a building so that the switch to recycling can easily be made. Switch the company to only using paper that is created from wind-power generated energy. Many simple alternatives such as the prior can make a huge difference for our environment.
