Tiger Woods is certainly one of those few stalwart figures in the circle of Golf that we can hardly give a miss. Though the recent controversy surrounding his personal life has besmeared and tarnished his reputation as an ace golfer, he is still lauded for his infallible form in his long and illustrations career. In fact, the name – Tiger Woods has become a symbol of perfection and dedication in the golf circle. He is still the highest paying athlete in the world and has got rave reviews for his swashbuckling performance and his signature style that sets him apart from other contemporary golfers.
In his long and illustrious career, Tiger Woods has won 14 professional major golf championships and he has 71 PGA Tour events under his belt. The only player who is still ahead in the number is Jack Nicklaus with 18 professional major golf championships. But Tiger Woods is now revving up to snatch the numero uno position from Jack Nicklaus and his consistency is a proof of that. He started off his career on a high note. He is the youngest player to win the career Grand Slam, which is definitely a remarkable achievement and he is the only player, after Jack Nicklaus to win a career Grand Slam three times. But this is not the end. Woods has won 16 World Golf Championships as well.
However, it was in 2009, Tiger Woods decided to take indefinite leave from his professional career to concentrate more on family followed by an unexpected revelation of his illicit love affair and infidelity. However, Tiger Woods returned to the golf circle the very next years after a long gap of 20 months and participated in 2000 Mercedes Championships – PGA tours.
Tiger Woods performance in PGA Tours is anything but ordinary. He has participated over 71 PGA tours championship and the golf lovers are expecting more from him. Tiger Woods’s performance in PGA tours reminds us of his single minded pursuit of achieving the number 1 position and he had almost made it a habit and other golfers usually took it for granted. When Tiger Woods took his stance, it had the audience roar with laughter and joy. His achievements in PGA tours are something that we can hardly ignore. It had become almost a common phenomenon to see Tiger Woods named as the champion and raising the trophy over his head. No other players till today can challenge Tiger Woods.
Tiger Woods first participated in PGA tours in the years 1996 and has won 2 majors. Though he is certainly not at the best of his career, his presence at PGA tours is enough to increase the curiosity of his fans and journalists alike. Though his golf career has seen many ups and downs, Tiger Woods is still considered as an exemplary figure and his contribution can hardly be overlooked. Tiger Woods lost his number 1 position to Lee Westwood on October 31, 2010 and he is currently ranked as 12th in the world.
