Unfortunately, getting a flat stomach requires more than just exercising your stomach muscles. Your body is a machine, and its parts are interdependent on each other. Thus, if your stomach is flabby, chances are other parts of your body are flabby. Because of the interdependence, your body does not eliminate fat in only one area, which means if you want a flat stomach you must exercise your entire body.

Fats are energy for your body, and what your body does not use during digestion it stores on top of your muscles. When you need extra energy, your body breaks down the stored fats and uses the energy. If your desire is to tone muscles, including your stomach muscles, it is necessary for your body to eliminate the fat stored on top of them. This process is part of your body's metabolism.

The complete cycle of metabolism includes all the digestive responses your body needs to survive, including the storage of fats. (Energy) However, when your body needs energy and converts the stored fats from on top of your muscles into energy, it is known as increased metabolism. This increased metabolism is imperative in achieving your goal of getting a flat stomach.

In order for you to acquire a flat stomach, you need an exercise that will not only increase your body's metabolism, so it will convert your fat to energy, but tone your stomach muscles also, which flattens your stomach. The best exercise to accomplish this is jogging.

Although your weight, and how fast you jog, is a variable, as a general rule, jogging burns off approximately 10 calories per minute. If you jog 30 minutes a day, every day, you will burn off approximately 300 calories, and if you jog six days per week you will burn off about 1,800 calories per week.

It takes approximately 3,500 calories to equal a pound, thus, if you burn off 1,800 calories per week, over a year, you will lose about two and a half pounds per month. Because your stomach is the first place to shed weight, you should have your goal of getting a flat stomach accomplished in less than a year, while toning up the rest of your body.

To fully utilize jogging, stand tall and keep your head erect. It is important to jog relaxed and to aide relaxation it helps to warm up before you start. Gentle stretching exercises are the best, like touching your toes, and twisting your body from side to side with your arms swinging along at your side. In addition, drink a couple cups of water before you jog.

Jogging is running at a slower pace of about six miles per hour, and the best time to jog is six or seven in the morning. At this time of the day the air is fresher, and contains more oxygen.

This is important because the more oxygen, the more calories you burn, and the quicker you reach your goal of getting a flat stomach. By combining jogging with a healthy diet you can get a flat stomach in days!
