Healthcare is a rapidly expanding industry in which properly trained and certified people are required who can assist doctors and nurses in their job so that they can focus on more important tasks. Such assistants are called nursing assistants, these are the people responsible for the direct interaction with the patients and provides physical as well as psychological support to them.
The job of a nursing assistant is to provide care for the patients on day to day basis and work under direct supervision of registered nurse, licensed nurse and other medical staff. They play a very important role in fast recovery of patients, as they are the one who are responsible for the basic care of the patients such as feeding at correct time, bathing and dressing of the patients. The most important assignment that an assistant has to perform is to check for the crucial signs of the patient’s condition from time to time leading to the speedy recovery of the patient.
It must be clear until now that being a nursing assistant does not limits to a job but it is job that comes with great responsibility. So the first quality that a nursing assistant must possess is the caring nature and sense of responsibility. Another very important thing is that one has to undergo a training to be a trained nursing assistant, under which one has to attend the classes for up to 100 hrs, in which one is taught about the basics of the Nursing Assistance. The training is followed by a certificate exam which a trained candidate has to pass, to be known as a Certified Nursing Assistant, the exam consists of two sections namely theory and practical.
The theory classes for the training can be taken online also but to pass practical exam, one has to be go through proper practical training at a qualified training center, because in the practical exam one has to work on the people posing as real patients.
CNA training is provided by many world class institutes, nursing homes and from Red Cross society also. The location of training institutes can be selected on the basis of home location, because there are lot of training institutes who are authorized to provide training and certification at their level.
A Certified Trained Assistants are in huge demand in the health industry as there is a shortage due to the growing population. So one need not to worry about the job prospective of CNA.
