Addiction is indeed something prevalent in today’s society as many people, especially young adults, are succumbing to them, and it is because of this reason that there are a number of addiction treatment centers out there that address the need to help them recuperate and be free from their abusive chains. Most addiction treatment centers come with a residential care option, which is a better alternative as compared to a care-from-home system. This is because availing of the residential care package comes with a number of programs that are more effective and geared towards the patient’s long-term and lifetime recovery. Here are some of the treatment programs offered to them.
Brief Intervention
Most addiction treatment centers that have residential care invite the family and friends of the patient in order to do an intervention. The intervention’s purpose is to get the patient to admit that he needs professional help and recognize his need to recover from his addiction. This form of addiction treatment is a mandatory first step in getting the patient rehabilitated because he or she has to voluntarily want to be cured, and not just forced by his or her loved ones. The psychological concept behind this strategy is to allow the patient to recognize his or her own needs, rather than have someone dictate what he or she should do.
Outpatient Counseling
This is one of the least restrictive forms of addiction treatment since it normally involves the substance abuse counselors visiting the patients from their homes. Through this method, the patients are still able to do their normal daily routines, but by being responsible enough to attend these counseling sessions. You might have heard of the famous "Alcoholics Anonymous", and this is exactly what it is: a group session or an individual session that allows the patient to recognize his flaws and work on them to become better.
In-Patient Treatment and Individualized In-Patient Programs
These methods are used by most addiction treatment centers and are usually provided in a residential care facility. This involves a lot of detoxifying services that can run for 28 days or longer, or a program that aims to help the patient reach a long-term recovery. The more individualized programs are used for those patients who have special emotional and physical needs that need focused and specific care. Having residential care is often preferred since the patient is monitored 24/7, and you can be assured of the best care that the treatment facility can provide him or her.
