Golf has become very serious to me when I graduated college and had a bunch of free time on my hands. After participating in various tournaments throughout the state and placing well, seriously The PGA Tour is a serious goal of mines. Yes I know this is big dream but with hard work and dedication anything is possible I believe. That is the first step to achieving anything in my book. Sorry, I got a little bit side tracked their but lets get back on target.
I recently discovered one of the best golf GPS unit, and now I personally use the Callaway Upro Go. This device contains any and all the features that any golfer serious about their game will need.
Now lets get down to business.
Critical Aspects That You Need To Know Before Investing in a GPS for Golf
-
The GPS system that you decide on should be very user friendly. Remember we are playing golf, not trying to reprogram a computer. You should not have to spend time and energy trying to learn how to operate your device. That time and energy should be spent on preparing for your next shot.
-
Courses should be very cheap or even come preloaded on your GPS. The GPS unit is already going to cost around $200 - $300 so it should not cost much just to access the courses.
-
The satellite and the receiver should always be locked in with each other, never losing your data and info. Whats the point of having it, if you have to wait for it to catch up to you to give you the info that you need.
-
Being resistant to ware or even water proof is a big plus. Anything could happen, there are water hazards all over and you never know when a shower is going to pop up.
-
You should have power for at least 1 entire round of golf and then maybe a little more after that. Some GPS's such as the Sky Caddie series has a bad reputation for only lasting a few short hours fully charged.
So from fellow golfer to fellow golfer before you jump into action and purchase a GPS for golf, make sure that it is able to all of the above. IThe above requirments is everything that you should look for in a good golf GPS.
