Co-working spaces are the hot new craze in the small business world and this summer things are really heating up. But what exactly is co-working? It’s a new concept that gives small businesses, home businesses and entrepreneurs a shared office facility.
Some of the hottest up-and-coming co-working spots this summer happen to be in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Miami. Here’s a list of the best co-working facilities in these cities.
Dallas:
CoHabitat - Co-working in Dallas for the summer just got a little bit hotter. CoHabitat is a co-working space for developers, creatives and entrepreneurs in the Dallas area. It’s located in the historic State-Thomas area, just a stone’s throw from downtown and within walking distance of some of the best food, pubs, and cafés in the city, as well as the Dallas Art District.
CoHabitat is set up in a grand old house, and boasts about having a variety of workspace and a vibrant community of creative thinkers, coders, designers, and entrepreneurs. There is very little private office, so if privacy is your thing, CoHabitat may not be the right fit for you. There are private offices available on occasion that can accommodate 4-6 people, but most of the space is in an open environment where entrepreneurs can indulge in the exchange of ideas. Some of the perks include locally roasted coffee, a kitchen with a large fridge, and a shower for members who may bike or walk to work. The top tier Resident membership allows members to have 24/7-access to the facility, a designated desk, and priority access to meeting rooms.
Houston:
DigiCafe - DigiCafe is the first coworking cafe in Houston, Texas. It features 8,000 square feet of café and workspace and is spread over two full floors. DigiCafe prides itself on being a community full of Houston students, creatives, professionals, and entrepreneurs working together in a comfortable, relaxing and inspiring environment that leaves the thought of a traditional office far behind.
True to its name, the DigiCafe peaks your interest with a cool interactive website with modern graphics and thorough information about the facility. It takes you on a personal tour of the facility and points out all the best features of choosing DigiCafe as your co-working facility. The facility also boasts a stunning view of the Houston skyline with its rooftop patio.
Los Angeles:
NextSpace - The NextSpace co-working facility provides both physical and virtual workspaces. The creators of NextSpace vowed to combat the disconnected nature of today’s workplace by creating a collaborative work environment. Their mission is to provide two unique functions: provide a professional workspace with complete overhead for its members, and create a sense of community in which freelancers, or their interns, no longer have to work alone in the confines of their home or the local coffee shop. They encourage collaboration amongst its members where they can share expertise and work on projects together. With a variety of members from different industries, collaboration on projects is quite successful.
Miami:
Büro - Being an intern in Miami has never been better! Büro is located in Midtown Miami in close proximity to Miami Beach, the Biscayne Corridor, and various major highways. From the outside, Büro could almost appear to be the latest nightclub or condo complex, but inside you will find a bevy of business opportunity waiting for you. The founders of Büro aim to advocate working smarter with passion amongst equally energetic professionals. The co-working environment is conducive to collaborating with other startups, as well as providing a chic place to meet with clients.
