The job of an x ray technician is not known to many people in all its complexity and difficulty. People are only confronted with the need of submitting to an x ray examination when they break a bone or feel there is something wrong with them, but apart from this case, this field of activity remains obscure to the general public. Apart from conducting the examination, the technician also interprets the x ray, has extensive knowledge about operating the mechanisms and also about medical diagnostic imaging.
The x ray machines and mechanisms are used by the medical science called radiology in order to determine when and why something goes wrong in the body of a patient, helping doctors to immediately establish the correct diagnosis and to put the patient under treatment. Needless to say, radiology has brought innumerable benefits and improvements to medicine and many lives are saved every day.
The x ray technician salary ranges from $35,000 to $55, 000, depending on the hospital, the management and, of course, on the individual's expertise and experience. The job of an x ray technician involves a lot of risks and responsibilities and usually the salaries they are paid reflect the challenging and dangerous environment they work in.
The main aspect to take into account when we consider the salary of the x ray technician is the dangerous environment he works in and the risks he takes everyday by handling dangerous radiation. They risk their lives every day only for the sake of people- to help them get better by receiving a correct diagnosis and treatment.
X ray technician schools are not few and there are also many accredited programs which train individuals in becoming successful professionals. The requirements for the job can vary according to the state you are from, but they all ask for the person to be a high-school graduate. Some will ask licensure or certification in the field, while others won't consider this aspect mandatory.
If you are interested in becoming an x ray technician, all you need is a strong will, dedication and love for people. Every day, you'll be faced with new and challenging situations that will keep your life interesting and your job very rewarding.
