With summer temperatures soaring from mid 70s to 80s, hiking and fishing is the most preferred past time for locals. The Big Wood River, on the other hand, is well known for locals and fishermen alike, and is named as "a fisherman's dream" because of its crystal clear waters and large pool of freshwater fish.
Sun Valley is also identified as America's earliest and most favorite places for skiing and has one of few cross courses available in the country with the rest being in Colorado, for snowboarders advanced and beginners alike. No doubt this resort community is a genuinely loved sanctuary for snowboarding enthusiasts in the country. Such natural trails are so rare that no other real estate can offer them.
The area has the edge of operating two notable snowboarding and skiing mountains, Dollar Mountain and Bald Mountain. Dollar Mountain has started since the season of 2009-2010 with just about a dozen skiing features. It is now grown to a full scale terrain park with 15 progression park features that provides beginner activities up to more advanced skills.
Another notable mountain in the area, Bald Mountain, is more futuristic. With the advancement of the Phase 1 of the aggressive Bald Mountain Master Plan come a gondola, terrain park and a new glade skiing platforms. We will definitely see these ambitious developments in the near future.
The annual Sun Valley Wellness Festival marks the start of the significant Memorial Weekend event featuring celebrity keynote speakers. This also signals the beginning of the Sun Valley summer season which the locals and tourists love. This is also when most of the real estate buyer searches for their dream homes in this great area.
