Before beginning to tell you about yeast cures, let me first explain what is causing your yeast infection. Candida albicans is a yeast or fungus that inhabits the intestinal tract of 80% of humans. It sits there quite happily without any ill-effects most of the time, its numbers controlled by other, similar organisms, and together they make up the ‘gut flora’.
When our health becomes compromised and we fall ill, we turn to our doctors for advice. If the outcome is a prescription for antibiotics or steroid treatments, the use of these medications can devastate the delicate balance of gut flora by killing off a huge proportion of the friendly bacteria which live in our gut. This leaves the way clear for Candida albicans to multiply out of control, making us susceptible to yeast infection.
Think for a moment, how many times have you experienced diarrhoea, the number one after effect of antibiotic treatment, following a course of antibiotics? This is a result of the antibiotics killing off the friendly bacteria. Candida albicans becomes free to multiply out of control in the gut, leading to the second most common after effect, yeast infection or Thrush.
Yeast infections will commonly be found in areas that are warm and moist. These comprise the mouth (it is often found here in babies), the armpits, the groin and genital area, beneath the breasts and in folds of skin on the lower body.
Candida albicans can also cause a systemic infection by passing into the bloodstream. This can be made possible through cuts or skin damage, or with the aid of medical instruments such as hypodermics, urinary catheters and IV devices. A systemic infection is a much more dangerous issue. The treatment is more difficult and not always successful, sometimes resulting in the death of the patient.
Treatments for yeast infection are widely available as topical preparations (creams and pessaries) or oral medication (tablet form). There are over the counter cure for yeast infection or those available by prescription from your doctor. Topical and oral preparations do tend to work well at dealing with the symptoms of yeast infection in most cases. However, there is a real risk to people who have a compromised immune system due to cancer treatments by chemotherapy, those with AIDS, patients of organ and bone marrow transplants and patients in high dependency and intensive care units.
The trouble with yeast infection is that it tends to come back time and time again. First the burning, then that infernal itching and soreness, and always in an embarrassing spot.
What you need to find is a permanent yeast cure, a natural remedy. The book Yeast Infection No More by Linda Allen offers you that permanent relief from yeast infection.
