Spring and summer events in Cheltenham

It can be hard to come up with new things to do and try out over the spring and summer period for you and the family. That’s why we have come up with a list of some of our favourite festivals and events in Cheltenham.

Wychwood Festival 2011
The Wychwood festival is a three day music festival held at Cheltenham Racecourse. The festival encourages families along with their children, with exciting workshops for children, a toddler’s area and walkabout circus performers and much more!
The Wychwood festival takes place on 3rd June to the 5th June, with camping available, if you don’t feel like camping, there are many hotels in Cheltenham to take your pick from.
Cheltenham Science festival
The Cheltenham Science festival is the second of four festivals (the first being the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, 27th April to 2nd May) which is held in Cheltenham town centre, mainly focusing in and around the Cheltenham Town Hall.
This year, the Science festival has the likes of musician and scientist Brian Cox, and talks on ‘the power of steam’ and the ‘future of technology’, the festival aims to share scientific information with the young and old alike.
The Cheltenham science festival is on show from 7th to the 12th June.
Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival
The Cheltenham food and drink festival, 17th to the 19th June is home to chef’s specials and real ales and much more, being a well celebrated event, enjoyed by visitors from in and around the Cotswolds.
The festival is located on the Montpellier Gardens, located in the centre of Cheltenham town and lasts from 12pm to 7pm on the 17th, and Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th from 10am until 7pm.
Cheltenham Music Festival
Another one of Cheltenham’s ‘Power of four’ festivals, the Cheltenham Music Festival is Cheltenham’s third festival event, from the 29th June to the 10th July.
The Music festival plays host to musicians from the United Kingdom, as well as many world musicians and performers. From talks about famous musicians like Bach, and performances from Orchestras and one man bands, the Cheltenham music festival is perfect for music and culture enthusiasts.
Also happening in Cheltenham
There are also walking tours of Regency Cheltenham happening throughout summer, with your chance to learn interesting facts about the local history of Cheltenham. Another one to watch is Giffords Circus, which are performing at the Cheltenham and throughout the rest of the Cotswolds this summer.
