When deciding on a swimming pool installation, you will encounter different types of pools available today. Choose your ideal swimming pool according to your home needs and budget. Here are the main types of swimming pools and their features.
The above ground swimming pool is the cheapest and easiest to install. As its name suggests, this type of pool is installed on the ground, usually from a DIY pool assembly kit. All you need is a flat, level ground and a supporting wall for the pool. Despite the above ground pool’s simplicity and affordability, it is not as durable as most other home swimming pools. It is ideal if the pool will not be used very frequently.
Another type of pool is the vinyl in-ground pool, which is similar in structure with the above ground pool but is built in the ground. This type of pool utilizes a vinyl lining in the dug swimming hole along the bottom and sides of the pool for reinforcement. It is an affordable option if you are looking for an in-ground pool, but part of the maintenance for this pool is replacing the vinyl lining every few years.
Gunite pools are gaining popularity for outdoor swimming pools because of their flexibility. This type of pool can be constructed in a wide array of shapes, sizes and designs. Gunite is a type of fast drying cement mixture that not only makes construction much faster but offers the long lasting qualities of pure concrete.
Finally, the poured concrete pool is the most durable of all, but is also the most challenging to construct. Concrete is poured into wooden frames to shape the pool in the ground, which means that the digging process and drying of the concrete takes plenty of time to complete. Concrete blocks can also be used for masonry block type of swimming pools, but as you can see, the designs and shapes for poured concrete pools are rather limited compared to other types of pools.
Out of all these options, choose the pool type that suits your space in the home, as well as your family’s needs. Also look for the right swimming pool accessories to suit your ideal type of swimming pool for your home.
