Shopping Advice - Buying Radiators

While it is hard to imagine in the middle of summer, it is about to get very cold. Summer is dwindling and it will be time to worry about staying warm before you know it. Some of us might be thinking of upgrading or buying new ones in preparation for winter. Here are a few tips to help you.
To begin with (and this is most important) make sure that the radiator fits inside of the room you plan to install it in. This sounds obvious and absurd, but one would be surprised at how often radiators are purchased that will not fit up the stairs or through the door! Accurate measurement is crucial to begin with.
It also needs to be checked to make sure the heat output is accurate for your living space. Heat output is measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs). Contact a professional plumber to help with this part. Wrong measurement can result in not enough heat, or your flat or home burning down to the ground. Not good! So definitely leave this part up to a professional.
This is the easiest and most fun part of purchasing radiators: the design. It will be visible, so make sure it is pleasing to the eye and fits in with the decor of your home. Radiators come in many different shapes, sizes, and colours so choose one that not only is practical for your house, but also looks nice! For older homes consider a designer radiator that has a vintage style. Vintage style is back in style, having one will add a fun look to your home. Remember that your heater is not only going to be felt, but also seen. Looks are not the foremost important thing, but do not forget to take style into account while shopping around. Many of them are made out of aluminium now and this is not only pleasing to the eye, but also easier to clean.
Electric towel radiators are a magnificent invention! How many times do you get out of the shower or tub and freeze? This is especially true in the winter time! It is often uncomfortable getting out of the shower when your flat is cold, so think about the contrast of a warm bath to a cold house. A towel radiator is a great answer to this problem.
A towel radiator should connect to a regular electrical supply and not your central heating. Towel radiators are almost always placed in the bathroom (not sure where else would be a practical place to put one!)
You might need a professional to install it. This might seem unnecessary due to the fact that it simply plugs into the wall; but it is actually very necessary, due to the amount of water that is prevalent in the bathroom (and nobody wants to be electrocuted from performing such a simple task!).
Other than consulting a professional, the only thing left to do is to pick out a pleasing design. Make sure it matches the decor and is big enough to hold an adequate amount of towels. Now you can enjoy a nice, hot towel after your bath!
