The efficacy of solar panels for electricity may be reduced by smog in the air, angle of panel relative to the sun, clouds, rain and wind. That is why, it is important to set up the panels properly. So that, even if the uncontrollable elements come in to play, there will still be sufficient energy that can be derived from the solar energy system.
Solar panels for electricity are a good option because it allows mobility and can be adjusted. If you are thinking of setting up a solar panel for electricity on your own, you have to be well prepared. Ensure that you have sufficient understanding of electrical wirings and diagrams. Be patient in referring to user manuals and instructions too. Most of all, double check if all the components that you will need are complete.
There are four major components when it comes to building solar panels. These are photovoltaic panels, cost controller, electric power inverter and battery models. Of course, there are also other supporting components like off fuses, amperage meter, voltage meter, disconnect switch, process monitoring device and copper cables.
The central component is the solar panel or also referred to as photovoltaic (PV) panel. This will collect sunlight and generate usable electricity. Typically, a single solar panels has 36 solar cells or photovoltaic cells that are fused together.
It is important to have the panels arranged in a photovoltaic array that is perfectly angled towards the sun. This is connected to charge controller using copper cables. The electricity from the PV cells in the panels will go to the batteries through the cost controller.
When it comes to batteries, the most appropriate kind to use for homes are the ones with real deep cycle style. This type of battery is durable and strong enough to handle the produced electricity. It also has a steadier electrical flow which avoids break downs. Even if this type of battery is discharged completely, it would not cause any detrimental effect on the entire system.
Since the electricity that is produced by solar panels for electricity is direct current or DC, using an inverter is necessary. This will convert the direct current to alternate current or AC which can power up home appliances and lights.
Testing your solar panels for electricity is important. Before you even sit back and relax, you have to double check if all wirings are working well and that there really is sufficient energy that is being generated. Allow the panels to charge up for a few hours. Then, use a multimeter to test if there is sufficient current flow. If the panels have not been exposed under the sun for a long time, do not expect a big surge of electricity immediately.
Every couple of months, make sure that you also do inspection. This is an important part of the maintenance. Make sure that the wirings are still connected, there are no cracks on the panels and that the components are not being destroyed by rust. With proper maintenance, your solar panels for electricity will surely last for a long time.
It is imperative to understand how solar panels for electricity work for home. This will enlighten you how much benefits you will get from this system. Get all the information you need by clicking the link.
