Load lifters are a vital part of the heavy industries operations. The workers in heavy industries deal with heavy objects and it is impossible for human to lift such objects and they need load lifters to perform the task. There are different types of lifters but most industries prefer using magnetic lifters mainly because of its high capacity to lift weight (up to 25 tons) and its versatility. The different types and benefits of magnetic lifters are discussed below:
Types
•Electromagnetic:
This type of load lifters uses an electrically charged coil that is winded around the steel core, which is integrated in the lifter. This setting generates the magnetic field and the ADC rectifier or the controller is responsible for providing the excitation voltage that energizes the magnet. The voltage generated by the ADC controller can be fluctuating and this in turn gives the electromagnetic lifter variable holding power.
The main disadvantage of using this kind of lifter is that it requires continuous supply of electricity to function. Thus, while the lifter is in use and there is a sudden power failure, it would de-energize the magnetic field, which in turn may lead to unwanted accident and risk the safety of the workers around the lifters.
•Permanent magnet lifters:
This type of lifters are made from a rare ceramic or earth materials, use magnets that are permanently magnetized to generate the magnetic field or the holding force in the lifter. These kinds of lifters do not require electric power to function. Thus it eliminates the risk of accident caused by power failures and gives it an added advantage of being portable. The permanent magnet lifters are operated manually using a lever attached to the fitter. While the magnet is lifting a load from boom trucks, a safety latch is attached to the load to ensure that the magnet is not turned off. The only disadvantage of using this type of lifter is that their lifting capacity is non variable.
•Electro permanent magnet lifters:
This type of magnetic lifters uses combination of the both electrically charge and permanent magnets. The permanent magnets is turned on or off by a DC (direct current) power supply system. The DC power system can be a battery or a DC controller, however, the lifter do not need continuous electric supply to function. The magnets need to be recharged periodically. Thus the lifter when fully charged can lift loads form truck and crane even when there is no power supply.
Benefits of using magnetic lifters:
1.Often while lifting materials from truck boom truck drilling tap holes would be need to get an anchor point to latch onto. After the loading is completed and removing the eyebolt, the holes needs to be filled up. This can add to the product cost. However, with magnetic lifters you need to drill such holes. It thus saves labor and cost.
2.Since magnetic load lifters are easy to operate, it helps in reducing the labor cost. A single worker can perform multiple tasks. Thus, it also improves employee productivity.
3.Magnetic lifters are of great use to lift individual parts from a crate or a stack. The lifting magnets can be used to lift the particular part vertically without disturbing other parts in the crate.
load lifters are very important for heavy industries operations. It is not possible for human to lift heavy objects and they need boom trucks, truck and crane, load lifters for such operations.
