Of all the cities in South Korea, Seoul is the biggest, has the largest population and is the capital city. Seoul has a lot to offer for tourists. The area of Seoul and around comprises of over 18 million people. This makes Seoul area one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world. You will always find something to entertain you when travelling or living in Seoul.
One of the first things you should do when you arrive in Seoul is head over to City Hall station. City hall station area has lot to offer for first time visitors. In the area you can find the palaces of Seoul. The palaces were built over 500 years ago and housed the King and his family plus some other members of his government. The palaces are all in excellent condition and offer a lot of insight into Seoul's history, culture and lifestyle. Also around City Hall station you will find the Cheon stream the Cheon stream is famous for its festivals and events. The river is over 8km with a bank on either side that people can walk along. Along the river banks there are different things to see such as history through pictures, a laser show at night and statues. A walk along Cheon stream is highly recommended.
If you are into shopping that you should visit a few of the markets that Seoul has to offer. They have markets for all different things but the most common are food markets, clothes markets and fish markets. The markets can be found in all parts of Seoul but the main ones are located within the city centre. Clothes markets can be found at Dongdaemun station and Namdaemun station. These are the two biggest markets in Korea and you can get every clothes item possible at them. They are also open 24 hours a day and a visit at night can be quite fun. At night all the shop owners visit the markets to buy clothes in bulk at cheap prices for their stores.
If you want to chill when you are in Seoul then you should head over to the Hangang river. The Hangang river is the main river that runs through Seoul. Along the river there are 12 parks and other points of interests that are all aimed at sports, relaxation and recreation. The parks are open 24 hours and are very safe. Also drinking in public is allowed in Korea so you can have a picnic with your friends and bring a few drinks along.
