A paper shredder is essential not only in business offices but also at home. Competing businesses and identity thieves can't stand up to a good paper shredder. Typically, an large business or non profit will have to buy a large industrial size paper shredder for their office. On the other hand, a small business or individual will only need a small shredder to shred with. A home paper shredder simply will not shred fast enough for the average large scale paper intensive business.
A shredder that is built for home use will not be able to handle the large volumes of paper that go through large businesses. These shredders will jam up and overheat very quickly. Unfortunately for business owners, the home paper shredder is just not built for shredding up ample numbers of documents at one time.
Additionally, this type of shredder tiny when compared to the larger business models. The standard household shredder has a small footprint and is perfect for those with small homes or limited space for shredding. You'll be able to store a home model inside a desk drawer or even on top of a little table.
Conversely, an industrial sized shredder is a stand alone piece that needs ample amounts of room to operate in. Often, a business will have to designate a whole room for getting rid of its paperwork. Big feeder mouths allow industrial shredders to process high paper volumes in one sitting without supervision. Hundreds of documents are easily shredded in one sitting with this type of shredder. Home paper shredders struggle to even shred just ten pieces of paper at one time.
Which paper shredder should you buy?
While many businesses will need an industrial sized shredder, not all of them will. Small business owners might not have a need for a large paper shredder. These folks can simply buy one designed for home use. This will save their company money and increase their profit potential. Even large businesses might not have a need for a massive shredder. There is an enormous number of companies that simply do not create enough paper work to make a purchase of a large shredder a viable one.
Conversely, some small businesses might need an industrial strength shredder. Businesses that tend to require lots of paper work tend to have to shred lots of paper work. Small organizations that have leasing agreements, contracts, and other documents with sensitive data, might want to invest in a larger shredder.
