Find Out How To Sell Your Opportunity By Not Selling It

Think about this for a minute... How do you feel when someone tries to sell you something that you didn't ask about? What thoughts run through your head when a relative begins to tell you about their latest "opportunity" when you've shown absolutely no interest in the topic? Do you feel positively about this person, or negatively?
I think we both know the answer don't we? Well this is exactly how your prospects feel about you!
They don't like to be sold when they've expressed no interest. They've heard all of the myths and urban legends about networking marketing, and here you are... a person they like and trust, spouting the same gibberish. You're calling, e-mailing, confronting them and shoving a chance to make "thousands" down their throats.
Oh I know you mean well. You're simply excited about this venture and are bursting at the seams to share it with others... especially those closest to you. If only they could see how they could make money with this home based business, you just know they would join. If only they listened to you and watched your DVD then they would really understand and be anxious to sign up.
Heck, you're supposed to be excited. Its a great opportunity. You probably wouldn't be involved if it weren't. You want to share your excitement and your chance to make money. I understand, you understand, if only "they" would understand.
But think about my opening statement... when you try to sell someone (who hasn't expressed an interest) its your decision being forced on them. Its not their idea to buy, yet here you are trying sell. This will never, ever work. It creates an adversarial relationship from the start. You vs. them. You are working against them, not with them. Your goal is to force your product or idea on them and their goal is to block, bob and weave every incoming salvo. They are in defense mode and you are in offense. Is this the environment you want to sell your product or service in?
You trying to sell them, makes it all about YOU. Guess what? They don't care about YOU.
Why should they? Everyone is only concerned about themselves. What's in it for me? Looking our for #1 right?
What if you tried a different approach? What if you actually put them first? What if you thought about them, before you thought about yourself?
Would that make it easier for them to trust you? If they trusted you, would that make it easier to sell? Would they be more or less receptive to hear about your "opportunity"? If you showed that you were a giver, not a taker would you set yourself apart?
Think about these words for a moment... You don't try to sell them but instead gain their trust by putting them first. Not asking, but instead giving. Not taking, but instead offering.
