The 23 years old Brit currently leads Rolling Stone's year end list and has also made history on both the i Tunes and Billboard end of the year charts. She became the 1st singer to score iTunes' best-selling album and song and top artist of the year. In the same vein, she was also crowned Billboard's No. 1 artist of 2011.
Rihanna came second on the list of top artist for 2011 according to Billboard, followed closely by Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne with Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Chris Brown all making it to the top 10. The list is based on account album sales, charting singles, radio airplay and other factors.
Adele's "21" was the best-selling album of the year with 4.8 million sold and was also nominated for 6 awards at the 54th annual Grammy billed for the Staples center, Los Angeles next year.
Tye Corner, the editor of Billboard.com, said they aren't many artists like Adele anymore: 'Her success is really inspiring because it shows that there is still room in the music industry for an artist to make it with true, raw talent.
Her song "Rolling in the Deep" also bagged the most popular song of 2011 with LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" featuring Lauren Bennett and Goon Rock coming no 2 on Billboard, followed by Katy Perry's "Firework" and "E.T." and Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer.
Adele who plans not to release new music for a couple of years would continue to bask in the euphoria of her recent success after recovering from her recent vocal cord surgery.
She told Billboard "I imagine I'll be 25 or 26 by the time my next record comes out, as I haven't even thought about my third record yet, I'm just gonna lay some concrete, set up home and just 'be' for a bit. I'll disappear and come back with a record when it's good enough. There will be no new music until it's good enough and until I'm ready."
Reacting to the success of the throat surgery, she said "It's gonna be a lot easier for me to sing now and mentally I won't be worried about my voice on stage anymore. So I have to get used to that. That'll take most of January, so February I'll be singing properly!"She explained. CBS.com
