The addiction to drugs and alcohol is considered to be a curse for any family. It has a very negative impact on the forlorn members of the family and most importantly the children who can do nothing but remain the silent victims of these abuses. The despair, confusion and conflict that is experienced by the entire family of the one who is addicted to drugs and alcohol is very hard to be explained. The family, friends and relatives continuously attempt to mould the individual from being an addict to a normal human being but it is a difficult thing to do and often takes a long span of time and at the same time it also requires great deal of patience in the family members. The situation becomes worse if the addict is in no way willing to change his habits and is not willing to carry on with the intervention. Such an individual always has the tendency of getting addicted every now and then in spite of continuous efforts on the part of his family members. It is in such situations that an effective Intervention Program is very necessary and at the same time inevitable.
There are many addicts who remain unaware of the damage that they are causing to their health by the excessive intake of alcohol and drugs. The Drug Intervention Programs initiated by family and friends or any well wisher can serve to be very helpful and effective in getting the addict aloof from the habit of alcohol and drugs. It is very important to carry out the intervention at an early stage in the life of the addict because if the habit becomes old then it is difficult to make it die. Apart from this an early treatment is always very important because of the fact that intervention of any kind takes considerable amount of time and energy. The best and most result oriented intervention program is one that forces the addicted person to leave his habit of taking alcohol and drugs by changing his attitude towards addiction. A good program never forces an individual for cure until and unless the person himself decides the path of his treatment and cure. It is only by the self decision of the individual that it is possible for him to develop a will and a longing to lose his addiction of drug and alcohol.
The specialists that carry out the various Intervention Programs must be an expert in their field of work and at the same time they should also have the capability of treating hundreds of drug addict patients. They should always have this feeling and thought that they are the ones who can serve to be God for the addict as they have the capability of giving a new life to the individuals who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. They are the only ones who can revive the addict of this treacherous habit. The programs that are run by the rehabs or by the institutions that provide intervention programs are designed in such a way that they help an individual in doing away with his habit of addiction and therefore in one way save the life of an individual from getting ruined in the worsty way that may be possible.
